HOLD ON

this is not
the dark ages
it's just that we're afraid
it's just that the nations
shift about uncomfortably
at times and it's violent

after all everything still works
go online go shop
get a fillup at the happy mart
it all works
power works well also
bombs work compassion
can be used as well as ever
rat poison still works
this is not the dark ages

we've learned a better way
to live and govern ourselves
we know now what's right
and all previous ages can be condemned
look at them shuffle off
into the gloom of the past
not like us standing here
covered in light and knowing better
no my friends not the dark ages
and we can be glad
it's turned out this way
