11/1/09

last night's moon so full
of itself it pushed
into my room and sleep

the curtains couldn't hold it out
because of its shining
all night I dreamt I was awake

unrested I got up on time
I am not ready for
the life I live now

many nights like this one
legs slow to work
I stumble after rising

the sun breaks the frost
the moon has retired westward
she has aged as much

as I have these six decades
but shows it less
an example to me I suppose
