ONE SHELF OF MANY

a book about murdering

a book of lies

a book in which the faces of a history are turned
from you walking quickly down a side street and
away from the disastrous confrontation with
     your eyes

a book for the dead to become birds become fish for
them to stand inside their ribs and look out

a book of children

a book under a book

there are books that have a face and others that
have legs to run from you

at night you place a book next to you and then close
     your eyes

a book of glass that you see through

a book of beautiful men and their awkwardness

a book that tells you not to sleep

a book lost and then rewritten in the form of memory
that is of a crumbling wall

this book, that wants to be seen
