8/3/01 when I go inside there is a hummingbird trapped between two panes of glass of the slid-open window overlooking the raspberry patch little guy you are trouble to save without harm it takes a flyswatter handle to probe you loose stunned or cunning you are still in my palm till we are safely outdoors when in the space of a breath you are in the treetops and moving fast away who knows if you will ever get up the nerve to return to the easy living of the feeder maybe you will keep flying forever so afraid it gives you a strength nectar never had
