LOOKING AT A FLY how far back to our common ancestor? some swamp the ferns thick in the heavy soil orchids dangling from some gingko or gymnosperm poking around in the moist slop for something to eat sex perhaps a new thing just a compulsion not enough neural action yet for it to be an interest or make society the common trait surviving in us both would be curiosity a what's that? response but on the level of voluntary motion not any kind of true awareness as either you or I know it fly I salute you as my brother or sister can't tell which do you like me notice we share the feature of a face I rub my hands together too keep your feet off my food
