ACCOUNT OF MY DAYS
Sequence: 3
PLUS A DAY
the eastern light
coming under the lowest branches
opens up
the floor of the woods
of a thousand worries
is any large enough
to stay with me
dawn requests
noon will deliver
the outside of wishes
leads away
the inside
leads up to the front door
I buried the doves
beneath the raspberry canes
like a pair of executed innocents
they will not feel
heartless cold heartless heat
having no heartbeats
as usual
I have trouble accepting
that some worries stay with me
those plus a day
make what I call a life
and how could I regret it
how could I not
come back this way again
