ACCOUNT OF MY DAYS
Sequence: 7
A LONG LINE
at night in the sky
above the cicadas' scratching
all the uncrowned heads have taken their places
all the stars are gazing
straight ahead
new pastures open in the void
black cattle graze there
a wide pool spreads in the curve of space
dusk was only the beginning!
the burden of those who kept trying all day
was laid down on earth's silence
while the surprising music of night
began above
you and I come from a long line of uncrowned heads
they own nothing but their shine
they carefully tend
the cattle who know no master
more populous than earth
the sky is finally open to us after hours
for strolling though we must avoid
falling into the dark pools
like urges that have slowed to nothing
between one bright moment and another
where sleep waits rocklike
to pull us down
